World Social Work Day 2022 – meet the team!

Today is World Social Work Day – a chance to say thank you and raise awareness of this important and life-changing profession.

Meet Moira and Charley – two members of our fabulous social work team at Saint Catherine’s.

The team provides patients and families with practical and emotional support, both in the hospice and at home, at what can be the most difficult time in their lives.

Their role is really varied and can involve help with housing, finances, care planning, creating memory boxes – or just talking about any worries or concerns.

Moira explained: “It’s about empowering people to help themselves, which gives them back a feeling of control.”

Charley added: “It’s so nice to be able to help people who are struggling. It’s just so rewarding.”

A huge thank you to our brilliant social workers and all those in the profession who work so hard to fight people’s corner, support them when times are tough and provide a friendly face and a listening ear. You are all superstars!
